2013 April/May Newsletter

We were so blessed to spend time with my son Daniel for two weeks in April. I believe that it was a critical time in his life and the Lord’s timing to allow him to visit was right on. Matthew and Victoria also welcomed their big brother and had a lot of fun playing with him. My heart was blessed talking with Daniel and visiting some of the tourist areas in the Yucatan. The first week we visited Mayan ruins, took a swim in a famous “cenote”, and took a day long fishing trip… and yes, we caught a bunch of fish! Daniel was also by our side as we served in Calvary Chapel San Felipe, Tizimin, and Panaba. The second week, Daniel joined me and was my teacher’s assistant in my English classes. We made a good team. He had fun and the students enjoyed asking him questions (no Spanish was allowed). Please join us to continue to pray for my beloved son Daniel.

Calvary Cristian Academy – Time is really flying now… the fourth semester has passed and we’ve moved into the fifth and final one in May. My students are antsy for their summer break. The Lord has reminded me to finish well this school year. We’re in the final stretch and my faith is He will strengthen me to accomplish what He set me out to do, which is to bless my students, love them, teach them, discipline them, and be an example to them. It was also a blessing to see the 9th graders able to go on a trip to the U.S. They came home blessed by the warm hospitality and fellowship they received from Calvary Chapel Downey.

Calvary Kinder – Sylvia is a blessing to the kids. She recently started to teach Bible and is also supporting the Spanish class. There are some students falling behind, so the Lord is using her to help in this area of the school.

Bible College (CCBC Merida) – As I write this, we have three classes to go! Please pray during these final weeks, for wisdom in preparing and wrapping things up in order; for our students, that they will take everything the Lord has shown them and live it out in their lives for His glory.

We’re also very busy gearing up for the 2013 Fall semester. It is exciting seeing the Lord bring things together and also testing my faith as there are still so many needs. This next semester we will be expanding our course offerings to allow for full-time enrollment. Calvary Chapel Bible College Merida is an affiliate of CCBC Mexico. I was blessed to take a trip to visit the Ensenada campus to receive training/guidance and good insight. Pastor Shawn received us and was helpful to answer all of our questions. The time away from Merida was a blessing as it allowed us to focus solely on the Bible College planning.

My prayer is that you will support us through prayer and that you will spread the word about what God is doing in Mexico through CCBC Merida. Join us in the following ways:

* Prayer
* Donations for immediate needs:
* Equipment for class recordings (computer, microphone, USB Audio input, etc.)

Pioneer Clubs – Our team of teachers has grown to include Jr. teacher helpers. We opened the door for the Jr. High students who have a heart to serve and love children, to join a club. God is using them to bless the kids in ways that sometimes as adults can be difficult. At the same time, it gives them some good practical ministry experience to use and discover their God given gifts and talents. In April, we put on Cosecha Kids, an evangelistic event for children. It was a blessing for the kids where we presented the gospel through a clown skit, sang songs, and held a variety of activities outside. We are currently in planning and preparation for a Kid’s Camp in July for ages 7-11. The theme is Bible Heroes, so looking forward to blessing the kids through these great heroes of faith and through our ultimate hero Jesus Christ.
