Hello friends & family!
It is always a blessing to report to you all about what the Lord is doing in us and through us here in México.
“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.” -Psalm 9:1-2
We are blessed by your prayers and also to be partnered with you in serving our Lord Jesus Christ in Mérida, México.
It has been a great first two “bimestres” this school year. Not without challenges, but by God’s grace, we are able to press forward. In Kindergarten Sylvia continues to love her students and be a light to them. Many of her students adore her and they tell their parents. The amazing thing is that Lord uses these little ones to reach their parents. It’s like the parent’s hearts are softened up through hearing testimony, then when they come and talk to Sylvia, they are more open to hear the good news. It is Sylvia’s desire to share with her students and their parents and the Lord is opening doors and giving her opportunities to share Christ and glorify Him. This school year, Sylvia and I have noticed more of the students parents coming to church service on Sunday than before. Praise the Lord for that!
In Jr. High and High School, it has also been going good. With the 3rd year Jr. Highers (like U.S. freshmen), I have noticed some positive changes. This group was the infamous “segundo” last year and my heart has been to reach them and just love them during their last year. Most of them will not continue on to the high school here, so the Holy Spirit is always reminding me that God has given these students to me for a short time. The Lord is making me step out of my comfort zone once again and I am thankful. I like to stick to the game plan, in this case the lesson plan, but that is not always the case this year. The Lord is teaching me to be sensitive to each student and to listen to them more carefully. This does change the lesson plan many times, but I believe that the Holy Spirit is leading and the students have been expressing themselves a little more.
At the Bible College, it has been a great semester. As I write this, we have two more weeks of classes then we’re off to the U.S.! It is crunch time as I prepare to close the semester, preparing the final exam, grading, and begin to plan for the 2014 Spring Semester. I will be teaching the book of Acts next semester, so I am really excited about that. The Bible College has been a great place to serve. I’m getting to know more of the Yucatecos and we’re able to pray for and encourage one another.
Matthew and Victoria and doing very good, praise the Lord. They are counting down the days for the trip to California and especially excited to see their grandparents. Sylvia and I are excited too and so thankful that God has allowed us to make the trip. We know that He used many of you to make the trip possible through your support and work through fundraising. Lord willing we will be arriving in the U.S. on Dec. 20th. We plan to spend time with our care team, family, fellowship, fun activities for the kids, maybe a little rest, visit my parents in Yuma, then finish with the last week at the Missions Conference in Murrieta, CA. We are looking forward to seeing many of you in a couple of weeks from now. We hope to see you and thank you personally.
If you would like to know more about our trip, When can we meet? What day/time is available?, please contact Reina Paul. She is our communications contact for our family and she would love to help you and give you more details. You can contact her at [email protected]
Again, we want to say Thank You!!! It is a blessing to serve the Lord together. God has blessed us with an awesome team and know that we couldn’t be doing what we do here without you as the Lord uses you. We are truly one body and Jesus is Lord!
We are thankful for everyone of you that continue to pray for us, encourage us, and support us.
Thank you for following us and reading this ministry update.
